The Touring Sauna - Ash Disposal Policy

This policy applies to all individuals responsible for the operation and maintenance of The Touring Sauna, including employees and company owners.

  • Ashes will be allowed to cool adequately before removal from the stove, to prevent any fire or carbon monoxide risks. The door to the stove must remain closed during the cooling period to ensure safe cooling. Ash will be contained in a heatproof bucket that can withstand high temperatures.

  • Appropriate personal protective equipment will be provided and must be used during ash handling. This includes heat resistant gloves, a metal shovel for collecting the ash, eye protection and a dust mask to prevent inhalation of fine ash particles.

  • Once cooled, the ash will be collected and stored and a sealed, heatproof, metal ash box, ensuring it is securely contained to avoid any spillage or escape of ash during transportation.

  • At the end of each day, cooled ash will be transported to a residential compost heap for disposal. This method is environmentally friendly and promotes the safe recycling of wood ash.
